 “the Chicago 2014 Poetry Bomb” Janet Kuypers’ Lincoln Square poetry readings 20140427 in Chicago’ Lincoln Square
Kuypers intentionally chose pieces that may potentially attract other people’s attention for poetry for her to choose from, and she even released (on site) a chapbook that she titled “Attacking with Poetry” (which is a appropriate title for this annual Poetry Bomb, where people are intentionally reading poetry out loud where other would normally not experience it). Scars Publications even released (thanks to cc&d magazine) an online PDF file chapbook after the event of “the 2014 Poetry Bomb” (available as a free download any time). Before this event took place (since it was scheduled as a Sunday afternoon event), Kuypers also (because she wen the previous day to the Chicago’s Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale at Loving Heart) collected two “bonus” vegetarian-themed poem that she hoped she could read there on Saturday afternoon (“Everything Was Alive and Dying” and “On a High Horse Like This”). Although it as far too windy for readings outdoors this Saturday afternoon, Kuypers was able to read “On a High Horse Like This” in Lincoln Square before other poets go together for rotating poetry readings. Because these were assorted readings from different books throughout the day, there is not one long video of an entire “performance” (like a show or a feature), so videos are only available for individual poems (read at different times of day.
