at the Fine Art Building Celebration and Poetry in Chicago
at the Fine Arts Building Festival Poetry Venue

Located at the Fine Arts Building, 410 South Michigan Avenue (across from Grant Park in Chicago in the Chicago Landmark Historic Michigan Boulevard District) hosted by Robin Fine and Jamie Walton, this annual Fine Arts Building Festival Poetry Venue was an evening of 10 minute poetry features from well-known Chicago poets, including a show by Janet Kuypers (with many others throughout the evening)... Kuypers, during the 7:00-8:00 hour, read shorter never-before-read Periodic Table of Poetry poems in her mini feature “On the Edge of the Table”, with poems that are related to some of the elements in the Periodic Table at this event.

In preparation for this feature (in addition to being the first 10 minute feature at Blue Bettie’s Poetry Reading 12/14/12 with “Count Me In”, as well as her solo feature at the Café Gallery 11/21/12 with “Periodic Poetry”), she also recently read poems previously performed at past features (since that is the only place she plans to “introduce” any poem from the Periodic Table of Poetry via public readings) at the Café Gallery on 11/7/12 (with “Carbon”, “Oxygen” and “Lithium”), at “Poetry Love Letters” 11/9/12 (with “Hydrogen” and “Tungsten”), and Waiting4the Bus’ open mic readings at Jaks Tap (with no microphone) of “Radon” and a shorter version of “Copper” 12/3/12, as well as one final open mic reading at the Café Gallery on 12/5/12 with “Helium” (from both the Canon and the Sony video cameras) and “Fluorine” (from both the Canon and the Sony video cameras).

These shorter “Periodic Table of Poetry” poems were accompanied with a long-running set of music from the 2011 “Hotel Music” series from the HA!Man of South Africa (Francois Le Roux), and this set included newer (less known to the average person) elements, where she was able to write more poetically about newly-discovered synthetic elements that researchers have yet to adequately study (therefore allowing for more poetic license when interpreting these elements for poetry).

This feature was recorded with two video cameras (Canon and Sony), and Scars Publications even released an online PDF file chapbook of “On the Edge of the Table” (available as a free download any time).
