A Child's Prayers
janine canan
Oh Ma, Your breath whips wildly
through my crazy heart.
Blow, Mother Kali, all the ruins
from my dusty heart.
*
Open Your million gates.
Flood me with beauty.
Drown me in Your heart's heart.
Radiate me with bliss.
*
Soften my heart.
Stir till it turns to candy.
Melt to a thick sweet syrup.
And then, oh my Mother, drink me.
*
I am Your drop.
I am Your grain.
I am Your smallest servant.
Take me.
*
Vast Ocean,
how many precious jewels
have You sucked back
into Your boundless waves.
*
The moon
gyrates in ecstasy.
Flames leap up in joy.
At Your feet, multitudes fall in love.
*
I am Your lotus -- I wave in Your pulsing breath.
All my petals open to Your brilliant light.
Joy enters my welcoming heart.
All my petals rise, crying Your name.
*
Mother, may I love
Your Creation, always changing.
May I love and let go.
May I love You only -- everywhere.
*
I am the hummingbird
flying into the window.
Take me, Holy Mother, in Your loving hands.
Release me into the dazzling sky.
*
Oh
my Mother,
now we are
One.
