I let go, but this love
won't leave me --
it circles and returns
like a flock of starlings.
Which way does the sky go?
And how will I get over
the barrier of your body,
rolling green to the boundless horizon.
Oh, how the starlings in majestic formation
soar -- euphoric over rising
mounds, where layer on layer
civilizations lie down in star-dust.
But starlings never forget --
like a deck of magic cards shuffling
they fall and reunite,
scattering the tall calm sky with their glitter.
