What is it like not to have a child?
It is like going on an ocean voyage in a canoe
without compass or map.
It is like standing on the desert under a wide open sky.
Your body grieves, your body cries --
no one to recognize you as their own, as home.
Alone in conversation with your being,
you must turn your back on death,
and talk directly to All That Is.
