Expect Nothing

Expect nothing. What you are looking for you will never find in human beings. Even what you expect in yourself will change tomorrow. You will change your mind, or your mind will change you. There is something you can expect, but what is it? You cannot expect anything of nature -- unpredictable, magnificent, dangerous, ever-changing. What about the Gods' stormy dramas? Expect everything, yet expect nothing. Kali -- Creator, Sustainer, Destroyer -- is the God for you.
Expect nothing. Memorize this: Expect nothing. Even death is uncertain -- they say we live on. Expect meanings far beyond your ken, or capacity to comprehend. Expect to suffer, expect to desire. Expect rare moments of relief. Expect love to disappoint you. Expect to fail. Expect cruelty, harm, guilt, misery and remorse. Do not expect tenderness -- it will surprise you. Do not expect beauty -- its omnipresence will sate you to numbness and displeasure.
Expect nothing. Then you will be ready for the forms to fly away, leaving the only thing you can expect, that is always here. Expect Nothing. Accept Nothing. Embrace Nothing. It is good, this Nothing that is everywhere -- so full of disappointment, dissolution, release. It will come any moment now --
