Singles group, the late 80’s
As mom-in-law says, “a lil’ game!”
Each person in turn, picks a word from Webster’s
We all have a go at the def
Of the word of the person whose turn it was,
Defs into a hat, then
Written out on a—I swear to God—blackboard,
Here comes the word, “dasheen”,
Which in reality, is a “tropical edible starchy
tuberous root of the taro plant family”
But m’buddy’s def was, “German potato salad”,
And I fell for it
And m’buddy looks at me
Amazed at me, marveling how I could’ve
Possibly bought into his def,
Well, of course I bought it!
A “dasheen” is a German potato salad
That’s what it is
I say so...
