You,
sun-whipped reddish-brown,
and tasting like
the watered saline of sweat,
limbs weary, eyes half-lidded
with exhaustion,
were the home that I returned to
that night,

and I,
all clingy skin against cool cotton,
aching for the imprint of your face
on my curving neck
have never known such peace
as you and I.
