The people
on TV
aren’t like me.

Oh, they’re so
pretty,
boney bodies
costumed
for my uneasy
amusement,
and they’re so
happy,
sneering bleached
teeth,
canine fangs dipped
bloody,
but I can’t be
like the people
on TV.

Oh, I’m so
ugly
in the dusty
screen,
daydreaming of
dreams
where I’m not
me.

The people
on TV
will never
be like me.
