A Converting Release

Focus on the pain,
The sinew has snapped, and the leg drags.
Harsh foreign tones little understood echo
Reverberating among the chill skeletons
Under the crackling blue glow of lit fences.
When was the last meal?
Concentrate on the words.
One twisted foot broke into the snow,
As the ceaseless movement started again.
too bad/too slow
The crackle of a whip.
Nine sisters bit the back.
“Concentrate on the Pain
It will keep you alive”
Alive?
Who had said that?
If he had saliva he would have laughed.
I didn’t matter. Nothing mattered.
Crystal eyes looked down upon Nothing.
Wires barbed his exposed feet
Numb. Thankfully numb.
Blood snowflakes looked like hearts in ice.
A shot cracked like a branch overhead.
Concentrate Damn you.
