Thwack went the hand
That sent me across the room
Come here you little bastard
Came drunken, slurred words

A Boot to the ribs
To toss me over flat
No tears on my face
That earns a slap

A beating for me
It must be a Tuesday
Or maybe it’s Thursday
Sometimes I lose track

Later that night
In moonlight and shadow
I stand with a pistol
At the foot of his bed

A sheep I have been
Led to the slaughter
A wolf he has made me
Let him feel my bite

My hand rises up
Enough of this horseshit
Lead slugs like rockets
Drill holes in the demon

Hopes, dreams, fly far beyond me
Cold steel caresses my temple
I end, before my beginning
Quiet, at peace, free and forgettable
