who everyone
believes
is a hero

bit sad, really,
that everyone believes the
curated face of a liar

rather than the truths
of what i faced;

but if i must be a villain
let me be medusa
i’ll turn you to stone
before you can hurt
anyone else—

because of every myth
i’ve ever known
you’re the most repulsive:

a good man?
there is no goodness
in you,
and i will break the mask
so others can see
the devil you truly are.
