Softly and quietly then, when the airman fell,
there was no sound, just a susurration of the air
savoured by the villagers for the tumult
of its vibration against the blade of a spear
penetrating the alien chest,
which bled starlight then,
as might the Nephilim.

Serum clear as truth but slight as science
oozed from many underbelly wounds inflicted
by desire of those who sought to bring him down.
Consensus and deference prevailed, so this aviator,
trusting the beneficence of medical men,
found himself, on waking,
plundered, eviscerated,
    
    
    
    
    
and imminently dead.
