a trip alone or to fake my own death

    in another parking lot, and then on, further- away- singing in grief and despair, also- this new despair, until I caught sight of an old-fashioned town, by the vast lake, everyone unknown to me, from another time, maybe, and this long, unfamiliar view. I did not want to worry my friends but I felt I could only be an omission regardless, and sometimes the contour of a thing makes it clearer. I needed no home, anyway- but felt sorry for all I should have obliged better. Is not a lake like a body forsaken?
