close to Hartford Connecticut
as the crack hoes are as close
to the Stars stopping for red-carpet
photographs for the big night
at The Oscars

As one of my students at the
Veterans Home & Hospital wrote:
“The camera noise of pop! Pop! Pop!
always sound like an AK-47 going
crack! Crack! Crack!”

If you could depend on girls
with first names followed by
diminutive middle ones like
Bobbi Sue or Mary Jo they never
stuck around after you got back
with a little war going on in you

And while guys with only one
or a nickname now like Bud
or Bo or The Animal tray up
for their food in a cafeteria

Women named Becky Ann
or Kimmy Beth religiously
watch & smoke before
day-time soaps
