One lighthouse, burned out.
Scattered debris
strewn upon
the jagged rocks.

Hundreds of Seagulls scream and fight
in the growing heat,
they greedily rip and stab
at putrid body parts,
millions of flies vibrate
in the constant moaning
of the ocean.

Dried seaweed lays like
burnt skin
on the burning sand,
shattered wood,
imbedded in the sand
like shrapnel,
            a thousand daggers,
swollen on the rocks.

One lone survivor, one lone man
walks in a deranged stupor,
to collect
fragments of sailors
impaled
            on death’s
; rusted scythe.
