& teachers

It used to be alcohol
Now it’s oxygen

Saving for a retirement
plan that was never funded
is how we enter the next crisis

I am too old to be declared
an abducted child but
too young to get a Silver
Alert as a senior suffering
dementia and who has
recently wandered off
in a Pink Flamingo lawn
-posted neighborhood

The interstate will still
get me there:
a cocktail party
a vandalized blackboard
or classroom
a retirement I will
never get to enjoy
an emergency room
at 3 am
