Perhaps, a mere pipe dream, though
I’d conjured it twice in this mind
field of diamonds and dysentery, while
staying on script, in this carousel life
of which we’d been written.

Spared from the syllabus of those two-
headed monsters, recycled rhymes and
the threat of attrition; all mere rehearsal,

as we move towards this place remotely
eccentric, where only the weeds and two
old wino poets, still have the gumption

to thrive through adversity, in this world
to which we’ve been driven.
