She still lives here,
but more like a squirrel than a human.
Imagine her bedroom as eaves.
Her phone, her music, as nesting materials.

We know her only by the scurry,
ceiling pitter-pat,
burrowing, bedding down,
sudden flights.

She goes where we cannot
though it’s all the same house.
The strange noises are comforting
in a way no silence could be.
