becoming assistant directors
of Human Resources

That’s why you need
a monster like Leatherface
to learn them that
working in a cubicle
or talking sports by the water
cooler is better than sneaking
off to read Wordsworth or
Rilke and then having protected
child-free sex in the woods

Buzz buzz buzz goes this
human skin-masked
cannibal’s chainsaw
as he chases after some
Brittany or Courtney
who will still escape

Because the monster
cannot run fast
The terror cannot
even speak
—the evil will be strapped
into an electric chair

and the children

will be pulling the switch
