Quiet hits. Streets are stolen
from a model village. Wind
moves like an architect’s hand,
subtly altering details: dogs
for foxes, lit windows for the full
moon’s jack-o’-lantern. A solitary
figure on the pavement, a headline.
Absent cars, owls. They pellet
the words for the daytime noise
so we can understand the silence
which is always there.
