The Mosquito buzzes against
the window
tries desperately to escape
what it furiously wanted to enter into
no man’s land
the cave
ball and chain
then the peak
mosquitos live
for seven to fourteen days

We circumvent
for seventy-five or so
years
trying feverishly to escape
every day
a pill
a drink
a line or two
desperate times lead to
raw measures

I flatten it out
with an old magazine
mosquito a black furry blooded
mass
attached to the back page
which happens to be an ad
for Newport’s

Death is everywhere my friend
it will find you as well
