strong women aren’t the true villains

    they told me what a lady ought to be, i said no; for that they made me the villain—had me questioning reality or if i were truly right? but i realized they were just gaslighting me, they wanted me to be like everyone else instead of being myself; when you’re a child they tell you that you can be anyone that you want to be but as an adult they’ll tell you “not like that”—so i decided to take my power back, and be myself; i decided to believe in myself and my magic and now i know that all these ghosts of the past may always be haunting me but they have no power here because i am the type of hero that saves herself—they tell me that i am intimidating, that i am scary; they run from my wrath and rage because they know it can bring them ruin—and they’ll tell you that i am the villain so they don’t have to take accountability for everything they’ve done, but i am a firm believer in allowing people to believe what they want; i know who i am—i am the girl unwanted, the girl unloved; that grew into the woman who loves herself enough to burn any bridge that stands between her and her dreams and the person she is meant to be; they’ll tell you strong women are villains but it’s really the men that would burn them that are the villains.
