Objects in Front of The Windshield...

She gave up on driving many years ago
and always sat in the passenger seat
while her husband drove her around.
One less thing to do, and he was always happy
to take her to her sisters for frequent visits –
part of the marriage vows, after all...

But a stroke in the shower can change things...
even when it seems the stoke itself disappears
certain effects stick around – she now watches
for lights and signs on the right-hand side
as he has run through an occasional stop sign
when driving by himself to the local hardware store...

It’s also been a while since he’s done anything
with the woodworking he has long loved doing.
He’s got plenty of magazines to give him ideas
and he looks over the projects depicted within,
but nothing has inspired him; and now she wonders
what else the stroke has affected within her husband...
