They Will Knock Again

They sprang full throated from ignorance,
the kind that’s bred into the bones
by Pa and Ma and Uncle meth.
Some grew where degrees are given
in the placid, tree lined tributes to learning
once ruled by the libs, now tugged right
by smarter ignorance.
They have a hero,
a grifter anointed by their god,
with a compliant clergy
unburdened by refined thinking.
tossing slick slogans like sharp rocks
at an Other vilified and blamed.
Ignorance deified.
They knocked once,
with god’s blessing,
they will knock again.
