Ants

The ant walks the length of a blade of grass
Up and down
Not fast, not slow
It has a vision, a mission
Or does it only think it does?
So I presume
I have a mission,
To inform my brethren
Abut the great delusion, the deception
That’s going down.
They think I’m crazy
Gone down the rabbit hole.
I think them fearful, lazy,
Swallowing whole the lies
Put out for them.
I bide my time, read the damage reports.
Cassandra style, present the evidence
That nobody will read.

The ant goes up and down the length
Of a blade of grass
Carrying the weight of its own meal.
What will today reveal?
What loneliness, what fear?
Words fall flat on the ground without making a sound
The ant goes up and down.
