A Serial Killer Lurks Inside

There’s this damn fly buzzing
Around, antagonising me from
Behind the depths of my blacked-out
Curtains which leave me blind,
Hearing only its invisibility
As it prepares to swoop
Desperate to escape fearing its
Time will soon come to an end.

But this fucker, well this fucker
He’s taken up home, been
Buzzing around now for days,
Occasionally, I’m sure knowing,
He’ll nestle in the remnants of my hair
As I grow desperate
To squash it but alas I’m too slow as now
It comes to taunt me again
Landing on my hand.

For now though I’ll let him stay
But if he’s here on Tuesday,
I’ll have a present for him
A Poundland special
Flesh-killing fly-swatter but if
I do it’ll be with a guilty heart &
The beautiful idealistic thought that
If we could all just get along I
Wouldn’t have to become a serial
Killer to survive a summer in this
Sweatbox of a room.
