If you had meandered
into my brain
before I went into therapy
you would not recognize
nor approach, my psyche
I’ve become a free-spirit
I haul a humor trunk around
and shun religion,
I’ve learned survival skills
helped myself, saved myself
developed the protective ability
to smell “toxic, noxious” people
I’m swift on my feet
running away
from clingy “dysfunctionals”
who are begging
to be enabled
now I watch “you”
be-bop up to me
with your rheumy-eyed
slick shit faced grin
hoping I will
accompany you
back into that dark room
I broke out of long ago
