my parents tried to teach me
to care what others thought,
but it was a lesson i would never
learn;
i always thought it was more important
to love myself and like myself than
whatever joe schmoe down the street
thought of me—
people will always judge you,
so you may as well be who you are;
i have let down my wings and embraced
the feathers and songs of who i am—
people have told me that i am
intimidating, that i am scary, that they
don’t like me;
and i honestly don’t care because i like
myself and everyone has different taste—
but don’t think i am going to sit here and let
your negativity change anything about me,
i break every nightmare given me with dreams;
so if you see your monsters running back
to devour you then you only have yourself to
blame because i am lady chaos and my super
power is to send chaos back to sender with interest.
