We’re just masses of the barely living
chasing dead man’s power
wallets filled with corpses
coffins full of power
a secret service for the makers
a hundred years later
who make us worship banks
and makes us cutthroats to our neighbors
too busy crying over spilled milk
to feed the starving cows
too busy interpreting the universe
to change it for a while
and tell the Greeks they can keep their ivory towers
we’ve got paper coliseums that we pay for by the hour
for whom we sell our souls as vouchers
dressed in postmodern slave attire
hardwired to be thankful
that we’re shackled by the dollar
and whipped by corporate owners
a god with manlike power
an oncoming apocalypse every other half an hour
