it rained yesterday.
the kind of rain that one
sees falling cats shiver
and plunging dogs yelp
in the pain of their fall.

with rain comes pain,
a kind of prescribed side effect
where each droplet forms
shapes of tears until
it rains on our cheeks,
incessant and unstoppable.
