If You Hold My Hand

If you hold my hand,
you will imbibe the history of its palm,
for each handshake had left its imprint or scar
to be intuited by your grasp,
which warms towards an amity that has been bitten and stung
by the cold,
the treacherous,
and the callously numb.

If you hold my hand,
my fingers will interlock at once,
an interweaving of eloquent and tender knots,
through which ripple the most cordial of floods
to bequeathe my love
in this very rare embrace of blood.
