Dark stream

Fabrice Poussin

A mechanical heart slowly beats
pulsating like some dying corpse
oozing with the endless tally of abandoned hopes
another day on the path to universal oblivion

A black paste travels from metallic arteries
thick as a cooling lava flow
it captures those dreams too slow
and buries them in a prison of steel.

Those who still stand in apparent defiance
freeze to surrender to the ordained destiny
too small in the growing abhorrence
it is time to close their eyes.

The monster of glass scrapers looks down
full of condescendence it ignores the pleas
and marches on to conquer the land
at the hand of evil dressed for a great ball.
