when Zero street tail-gated
an arsenal of beer kegs & barbecues
before the big football game

a disinherited young
aristocrat painted his
face with a dollar sign
and a swastika
so that if people
were going to beat
him up
he would have to turn
the other cheek

Sensitive creative young
men trying to vandalize
creatively
—your father a naval officer
mine a cop

what else could we do
but try and save the world
from more authority and
remake banality into works
of art like Marcel Duchamp?

Couldn’t you later infiltrate
as perhaps a teacher and get
students to consider how
Capitalism and Fascism might
just be the same thing?

The only way I can temporarily
forget your suicide

is sometimes to think
of you when I teach
