Homebodies
Paul Truttman
It was an accepted
way of viewing family
for many years until
one day a stranger
invaded out
protective sanctum.
A guest, a lover,
the role played
in hindsight unimportant.
Destroyed
in a few short days,
harmony and security
cherished since birth.
Tenuous, illusive
words learned today.
But ready
we may still become
for the precarities
beyond a once
reclusive front door.
