Would it be possible
for someone to tell me
why, we pile pillows
on our bed, to throw them
on the floor, each night
prior to retiring?

I’ve noticed it happens
at my in-laws and friends.
Extra pillows, some decorative
tossed to the floor, then returned
each and every day to the bed.

Madness I say, because
they must be placed in
the same order in which
they were removed. And
no one ever, as far as I know
has made mention of how much
better our lives are due to these
extra pillows!

Even I don’t know why
I do it everyday on our bed.
Plus at my in-laws and friends
I memorize the patterns and repeat
replacing the pillows only to
hurl them to the floor again
the following night.

Perhaps I’ll ask my wife why?
But on second thought, no.
Else I find myself tossed
off the bed, to sleep on the floor
amongst the pillows.
