Well—yes...

but I can’t help expressing the indignation and injury
I feel recalling, for instance, a pervert who lived
in the state university library restroom
where I had to go
when need called and boredom from reading epic poetry
made me yearn for journalism: journalese
at least might have kept me up with the fact of the rise
of these fellows, but that’s a fallacy, these newspapers
won’t report: unless a rape that leads to murder.
Sensationalism! And the cops arrest boys for vandalism.
But the whole point is, in brief, I’m sick of these extremes.
Everyone being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Figure it out—it’s not my cliché or logic!
The wars don’t interrupt the warlike psalm. They
embellish it. You sing the psalm before and after
Armistice. It’s praise praise praise praise—praise the war!
but disturb the peace of the individual calm? Nah,
I swear that Mars himself had some quiet moments,
at least to effect his strategy—the band came.
Or maybe not until he won. I was in
about the tenth book—these long-winded epics...
