Lined paper reminds me of a jail cell:
the white space between
a place for incarcerated words,
who get into too much trouble
when set free, so we rely on lies
about the skies belonging to birds,
water too deep to fully understand,
and land the only mouth that matters,
waiting to swallow our dead,
but all of this just a crash landing
of fantasy, spoken to pass the time,
helping drown thoughts of a raft
made from raincoats,
an escape to Brazil,
while the world pretends
certain words no longer exist.
