We Americans are blessed
with our first amendment
“freedom of speech;”
accordingly, we’re relatively immune
from perverse government restraint,
though we’ve got fitting substitutes,
for if you dispute
a favored group’s
allowed set of views
you may be censored,
indicted in the news,
defamed on social media,
expunged from your community,
bankrupted by lawsuit,
abruptly fired, ...
so you speedily come to appreciate
your esteemed “freedom” includes
the preeminent “right”
to put up with
and keep your mouth shut!
