Far Away From Here

The morning Sun rose.
His delicate rays of
pomegranate beads splurging
on the red brick house,
on pleated village roads.
Tomato crayons painting
a canvas of hibiscus boughs.
Far away from here
no berry lipped jam kisses the toast.
Smooth tongues deprived to sip
the red tea host.
Dawn light welcomed by
yawning chilly carpeted
terraces. Whilst I search
familiar faces on the poppy fields, lost.
Far away from here
apples find themselves in
eyes rather in bowls. Where leaves decline
enrobe yet people string oleander garlands.
Mothers plait hair rivers with vermillion
ribbons, their brows’ bank jewelled
without any ruby rebellion.
Far away from here
all I red about were men
Of anger
Of love
Of shame
never mundane meanders set.
Feet dipped in Alta (red dye), I
close my eyes. Blood trickles down
as I cry.
Far away from here
watermelons ain’t plucked
by dainty breeze. The Land
a baby first sees. I could try to reach you
fly away on a Robin’s back.
Carry my soul on cherry cake velvet.
Slicing through the salty waves, on a starfish.
Join where the heart reigns.
