i grow tired of old men
dreaming up new wars for
soldiers and civilians alike
to die in,

for their profit and their greed;
all they care about is power

there’s no humanity left in their
souls and it makes me wonder
if they ever had any—

all i can think of is the children who will
live in fear, all the families that will be
ripped apart; all the dreams lost and all the
people who don’t die yet will never again
be whole whether that be in body or mind
or even both—

i don’t understand why profit should ever
come before a life because each of our lives matter,

if politicians have hearts: why don’t they use them?

never have i liked the idea of anyone suffering,
but they seem immune to the concept of empathy;
it makes me wonder what we can do to fix the
world if no one is listening to the cries of the suffering?

in the end, we are all human; let us end the nightmares
and the darkness and the suffering.
