i remember when you threatened
to shoot me and my friend,
and you got out of it with an out of school
suspension and waved at me as the
bus went by;

and it angered me that there was no justice
not to mention your mother calling me a liar
just because i was nervous to have to sit in the
same room as you still raises my blood pressure
i wish her nothing but the worst all these years later—

the bullies always get to forget their cruelty,
but those who were bullied never get to forget;
they don’t get the luxury of sleeping well at night
despite the trauma done to them—

i never understood why you thought that it was okay
to threaten someone in that way, and why your mother
didn’t think that four people saying the same thing were being honest;

reminds me of all those mothers of monsters that want to say
they never could see it coming because their sons were such good people—

i don’t believe anyone’s good until they prove it.
