has serious Alzheimer’s
yet he remembered
enough song lyrics
to do a great concert
with Lady Gaga
and completely forgot
the next day

My mother
slipped out of reality
thinking that the Hudson River
our her window
was the Charles River
of her youth

Further
she thought that I
was her long dead brother John
rather than her son of the same name

Yet
when I brought my young children
to visit her
she knew that they were her grandchildren
and I was her son

Can you explain any of this?
I can’t

What did you say your name was?
Do I know you?
