i pray for their downfall

i was at work when the news started pouring in
about the leaked draft,
but when i got home from work i saw the news;

all i could feel was shock at first but now
i am steeped in rage and fury—

not surprised but disappointed beyond any description
words could accurately describe because how can we
allow these people to take everything we’ve worked so
hard for away from us?

last time i checked there was a freedom from religion
that was protected, so maybe they should check themselves;

i never agreed to this nation being christian—

never felt safe sitting in their pews,
but the pagans that have accepted me under their wing
have always shown me kindness even when correcting me;
they have shown me compassion and mercy and empathy—

i don’t pray to your God because He is not mine,
but my gods have always protected me and so i pray to them
for the downfall of all of those trying to control us.
