The company that recruited me
from another job.
Spent three years praising me
with raises, and high performance
reviews.

After announcing they
had a twenty million dollar
back-log of work.
I was informed, they had
no more work for me.

The manager attempting
to appear sad and sorry
while she suppressed
a Cheshire cat grin.
Told me I had one hour
to vacate the premises.

So, at sixty-four
I was out on the street.
Let me just say
it ain’t easy to find a job
at sixty-four.

But I found one
pretty quickly too!
Back in the field.
Climbing ladders
Pulling wire
Mounting equipment
A twenty-three year
Leap backwards, and
Don’t forget the drop in pay!
