Wreckage wrapped in the remnants of a bouquet
Or a ribboned hat box for what was lost from its roots.
At my door unused,
They lie,
Or mis speak or miss me and are barred from entry.
Hanging on by the hinges,
Winter’s binges on a delinquent sun are hard won,
Refluxed by mid afternoon
Into a decongested, unaffected crimson solution
That hardly gargles then
Spits swollen constellations onto the black sink.
These flowers won’t grow again,
Dawn will return, sending something other to flourish.
