i miss your magic

butterflies and bees are
dancing in skies
of dark blue,

the trees are warning of rain;
but everything is peaceful and cool

whispering of the promise
of something new
to bloom beneath the sun—

every pink blossom, every pink sunset,
and every white rose makes me think of you;

somewhere on the horizon living your life without me—

i wonder if i ever drift upon your focus,
or if i am just one of those people you don’t
think of now that we don’t speak;

but i remember discovering that purple
butterfly with you flitting across the college campus,

how you reached for my hand when we went
to watch the producers together because you always
leaped headfirst into every adventure and i was
always excited to adventure with you;

i remember dracula’s ball and the ren faire,
and the way you taught me that my scars make me beautiful—

makes me both happy and sad to know you
because life is bittersweet:
full of both rain when you need sun and days of sun
when you need rain and some days that are just perfect
and others that are not enough—

i just know i miss your magic.
