when you’re different
it makes people
uncomfortable,
but i no longer care because
i am finally comfortable in
my own skin;

took many years to become
and i am going to embrace
myself flaws and all because i may
not be perfect but i am always worthy—

i was always worthy and always
will be
even on the hard days, even on the days
i devalue myself;

once i lost myself and forgot who i was
and that person buried me alive—

i learned when i rose from that
shallow grave that one never sacrifices
themselves for those who aren’t
worthy of their love, time, or
affection;

it is more important to keep yourself
than earn the love of someone who will
not value or appreciate you as you are—

i am embracing my magic and relearning my voice,
trusting in the might and power of my wings and my dreams.
