this is a time of reckoning

the world feels heavy,
and i don’t know what to do;
i know the weight isn’t
mine to carry and yet i cannot
shake off the feeling
of helplessness and rage after
today’s decision—

roe vs. wade has been
overturned,
and people are going to die
because of it;

oh! but the babies.

you idiots,
it was never about the babies;
rather it was about controlling
those who have a uterus—

they’re coming after your rights next
so i wouldn’t rejoice,

this a time of reckoning;
will you stand still and do nothing?
doing nothing and remaining silent
only helps the adversary,
it does not help those being oppressed.
