Over the river, my necessary view of the city,
the day’s respite from brick confines in my apartment

feeling the openness of the water and the air,
yet also the security of the train’s glass and steel

here is the best way to take in the heights of downtown,
while traveling at eye level with Lady Liberty

a chance to look at the spread of famous towers
condensed together, as if held in a snow globe souvenir
